The UEFA Executive Committee took place earlier this week, Wednesday 4th December 2019 in Nyon, Switzerland.
UEFA Women’s Champions League
UEFA will introduce group stages in the UWCL from the 2021/2022 season, also the UWCL will qualifying rounds introduced from 2021/2022 season.
VAR use expanded
The UEFA Executive committee also agreed to use VAR in the European Qualifiers Play-Offs in March 2020, and in the 2022 European Qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, subject to approval from FIFA.
Play-Off format for 2022 FIFA World Cup
The qualification system to determine the 13 European teams that qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup was approved as follows, pending validation from FIFA.
The 10 Group Winners from the European Qualifiers will qualify directly for the final tournament;
plus, the three winners from a play-off round involving;
the 10 group runners-up from the European Qualifiers;
and the two best group winners of the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League, that have not already qualified the play-offs via the European Qualifiers.
The winners of the three play-off finals will qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
2020/21 UEFA Nations League Draw
The draw for the league phase of the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League. The draw will take place in Amsterdam, Netherlands on the 3rd of March 2020 at 6PM (CET), 5PM (GMT)
UEFA Women’s Euro 2021 Match Schedule
The tournament will take place from the 7th of July to the 1st of August 2021, with the final being played at Wembley Stadium in London, England
